Birthday card made with Cricut Craft Room and Yes... my Imagine!

Well, I have been in a funk, a craft funk and a LIFE funk.  I can't seem to get control of anything - eating, weight, house cleaning, job, and parents!  I never mentioned kids - they are the least of my worries right now. (thank god) Plus I am working part time - which really isn't helping me gain control of anything.

Any way I am going to a scrapbook weekend and I haven't touched my scrapbooks in about 2 years.  I came into my scrap room to try and gather things to work on for 2 days when I decided to try Cricut Craft Room.  I needed to make a card for a friend of mine - we share the same birthday (I'm older)  I figured i would try CCR with my 3rd Imagine to see if either would work.  Just got my 3rd replacement I and really haven't had a chance to play with it and make sure it works.  Well after watching a few youtube videos on how to use CCR I decided to give it a try with a simple birthday card. Designing in CCR was really nice.  I did keep it simple no welding even though that looks really easy to do.  I did take full advantage of the mat layers and was very surprised when I could print and cut all the layers on one mat.  Here is what it looked like when I was ready to cut.

I was very excited when my CCR recognized my Imagine.  It recognized all the cartridges I used.  I had to stop and insert each cartridge into my Imagine. And then I waited (with my fingers crossed)  And I waited...  It thought for a long time. Then it said to follow the instructions on the Imagine - and my Imagine screen looked like the menu.  It didn't work - I almost panicked but then I just canceled the cut and tried again.  This time it worked.
I think I am really going to like CCR and I am keeping my fingers crossed my Imagine keeps working.  Next time I will try to weld and use my own papers and mix it up a little.  Here is the final product.  Im not a big fan of the big blue background - I tried to jazz it up a little.

RECIPE

Cartridges use:  Just Because Cards - for the card base and background shape
Sweet Treats - for the cupcake
Imagine Yummy - for the background paper and colors
The sentiment is a cling rubber stamp from Stampendous - which I like the saying but it has lost it's cling.
Martha Stewart birthday ribbon and some stickles

Still havent gotten anything to work on while Im at my scrapbook weekend.  Off to organize and get creative.

anyone with an Imagine - can you help

So I neglected my Imagine for the summer.  When I went to update it tonight all it did was power on but then nothing.  No noise no menu nothing.  The sync won't recognize it.  I have tried  unplugging it and turning it off and on many times.  I would appreciate any suggestions.  Thanks

Guest Designer for Birthday Week at Inking It Up Crazy

Kassidy from Inking It Up Crazy thought it would be fun to spend a whole week celebrating Birthdays. Kassidy and her friends have done a fantastic job. If you haven't checked it out here is what has been happening.
On Monday, she featured Invitations, Tuesday was Decorations, Wednesday was party favors and yesterday was wrapping/packaging.  Be sure to check out her blog and see all the great projects.  I have gotten so many great ideas.
Today's topic is Birthday Cards   I am so super excited to join Kassidy and her friends.  This is my first guest designer appearance.  I was also glad that I got picked for cards- coming off surgery, it was nice to have cards.
This was a first for me on many levels.  I made (attempted to make - envision was better than execution)  my first easel card,  I got to use the cricut Imagine Yummy cartridge for the first time and I had a new stamp I wanted to try.

I wanted to try the envelope on the Yummy cartridge and cut it on Fit to Page.  It was an odd size to me and I had trouble matching the card size.  I struggle with the Imagine and sizing and really hope that the cricut craft room will help with that. The background paper is DCWV sweet stack.  I would have used the paper from Yummy if I didn't struggle so with sizing.  I popped the cake up and used stickles.  The stamp is cling rubber by stampendous.  The saying is really cute but the stamp is a rubber stamp on a piece of cling vinyl (verdict is still out)

here is the other card i made.  I used kraft paper for the base and cut the cake from simply charmed.  the paper squares are from yummy and they actually say happy birthday.  The sentiment is cut from birthday bash cartridge.

Well, I hope you enjoyed my cards and my first time as a guest designer.  Thanks Kassidy for giving me this great opportunity.

Moving slow- layout completed!

Hi Everyone
Well the energy I had right after surgery has faded- maybe I over did it??? So now Im moving slow..
Here is a layout I finished a bit ago but never posted.  Scrapbooking is my first love and I have about 8 books that need to be finished!!!! So my new years goal was to work more on my scrapbooks- somehow I have only done 1 layout.  Hmmmmm  1 is better than none.  Im just a slow scrapper...

For this layout I used a combination of my expression and Imagine.Of course I used Peachy Keen face stamps on the kids.  Just love those.  I usually do 2 page layouts so my books tell a story. I can't say enough how much I am looking forward to the cricut craft room! I am a visual scrapper and have to "see" everything.

Im back in my scrap room

Okay after 1 week of recovery Im back in my scrap room!  Im feeling pretty good, which is making me nervous - like Im waiting for the other shoe to drop.  Which is crazy.  So Im very excited to be back scrapping.  I have a lot waiting to be worked on.  Hoping to get it done and posted very soon.  I am going to be a guest designer at the end of next week for Kassidy at Inkingitupcrazy.blogspot, com  She is celebrating Birthday week.  I am soooo very excited for that.
She will be hosting a full week of Birthday Fun.  Off to start my project.

Card for Aidan and Terrific Tuesday Challenge

Hi Everyone
I came across this post the other day from Scrappin KY Momma  asking for all of us card makers to make a card and send "smiles" to a 2 year old little boy who was recently diagnosed with  T-cell Leukemia. My heart went out to him and his family. Here is Aidan's story - my card and Terrific Tuesday Challenge is below.

Aidan is a sweet lil 2 year old who was recently diagnosed with T Cell Leukemia. On Wednesday, he had a port installed in his chest, spinal tap, bone marrow, and chemo in his spine. He did GREAT! This lil guy is such a trooper.  His parents have accepted that their BABY has Leukemia.. NOT the easiest thing to accept, but their faith in God and their support system have kept them going. T-Cell Leukemia has a high cure rate although chemo will be continued for quite a while. Lil Aidan LOVES mail, like any 2 year old does. So....

I need your help. Let's get our crafting supplies out and send this lil guy some LOVE!!!  Pass this on to all your crafty friends. I think we can all take a couple minutes and make something special for him that will bring LOTS of smiles and he can look at over and over.

Please mail your cards to:     AIDAN

Terrific Tuesday Challenge - CREATE-A-CRITTER

Scrappy Moms Stamps terrific tuesday challenge is Create a  critter  Thats an easy one.  Happens to be one of my favorite cartridges.   My card is made with Aidan in mind.  Something that a 2 year old boy would recognize and be able to talk about.
For this card I used:
Card base is from Birthday Bash cut at 5"
Wagon is from Just because cards cut at 4.75
dog is create a critter cut at 2.5" and of course peachy keen stamps - critter faces  for the face
The sentiment is from Just because cards cut at 1.5 I ended up cutting it with my Imagine - it just handles the small letters so much better
I used random scraps for all the paper except the square is from the DCWV pet pack
I started to put buttons on the wheels and then remembered that I was making this card for a 2 year old so no buttons!

Stair Step Birthday Card

I made this card for a girl who is 13 and loves Princess Aurora.  I have to say that putting the princess together was a challenge.  I cut her at 3 in.  I think that she would have been easier to put together if she was larger.  I used my Imagine to color and cut the princess. There are actual Disney RGB codes!
This card fits the standard A2
Princess is from Disney Happily Ever After cut at 3"
Words are from storybook cut at 1"
Once upon is cut at 2"
Present is from Lyrical Letters cut at 3" and I added the present background.
The background paper is K&Co.

Cricut Cardz Challenge #62 Cup of Cheer

Here is the card I made for Cricut Cardz Challenge #62  Cup of Cheer
The challenge was to make a card using any cup image from any cartridge
I haven't used my Imagine in a while so I wanted to do this challenge with it.
I am still struggling with sizing on the I and finding it hard to deal with paper waste.  I am so looking forward to the new Craft Room software Provo Craft is offering us.
I used the Cricut Imagine Imagine More Cartridge.
The teacup is from the bonus section cut at 4.2 "
flower border is cut at 1' I popped up some of the flowers
blue rectangle is cut at 3"
Phrase is cut at 2.8
The ribbon is a Martha Stewart (from my stash)
I added a prima flower to the center of the cup (covered the printed one)
The card base is from Just Because Cards and is cut at 5" and is filled with one of the patterns from Imagine More Cartridge
I had to play around with the sizes a few times.  I just can't judge on the Imagine screen without overlaying the objects.

Create N Craft

Hey everyone- the guys at Create N Craft are giving away a Your Story Package as they launch their new blog. with Cricky Across 50 Blog Hop. Please go over and check them  out.  The blog hop is really cool as well.  K Andrew got people to represent all 50 states.  Ive been having fun visiting states I have never been to.

Valentine's Day Cards

I haven't posted in awhile.  My DD had surgery in early January and we have been hanging out while she recovered.  Actually watched the entire series of Gilmore Girls.  I finally said I needed to scrap some cards for valentine's day and she overtook my scrap room.  Here are her cards she made (for me)

My DD also made a pair of angel earrings (my other DD is in a sorority and angels are their thing)
This is the only one I made.  Was trying to make one for my son.  It is actually too young looking but I made it from me and the puppies so maybe it will be appropriate.
I used Create a Critter at 3 in. and the saying at 1.25.  the dog basket is from everyday paperdolls also cut at 3 in. The background paper is from K&Co.
All cards are the A2 size.
Thanks for looking and Happy Valentines Day!

First Word Book

Here is my first attempt at making a word book.  It is for my son's girlfriend.  She is in Alpha Chi Omega sorority.  This was challenging to me because I had to make spaces for pictures with out the actual pictures.  I am making the same book for my daughter but she is giving me the pictures so hopefully it will be easier.  I will post that one when i get it finished. (sorry for the mess around the pictures- i was in a hurry to get the pictures taken so I could give her the book)

Thank you Card with the Imagine

This is a quick thank you card that I whipped out with my Imagine!  I have to say it was easy and had to be the quickest card I have ever made.  The card base is from Just Because Cards and the birds and "thanks" are from the Better Together Imagine Cartridge.  I popped the little birds up.  I will go to this card a lot.
